“The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things….”
While I’ve been keeping a journal for decades now, this is only my second blog. I began my first blog over on barackobama.com and suddenly I understood how the world of blogs and RSS feeds fit into my life. I created my own personal and business “newspapers” on my.yahoo.com, using RSS feed, perfect for reading while I have breakfast at home, or lunch at my desk. I can hardly wait to introduce this cool technology to family members who, like I was, are hip to e-mail, but don’t really get the whole RSS and blogging thing.
It’s an exciting time for me, but at the same time, it feels odd. Here I am doing what I remember my first husband doing, way back in the mid 80’s. Except he’d do it verbally, over dinner when we got home from work. Sharing his thoughts and perspectives on what was going on in the world. I used to tell him, “Write it down!” But he never did. And it saddens me now, to think that in this day and age, he would’ve had an outlet. Now, he would’ve had an audience, besides me — if I could get him to write it down.
That’s the biggest problem with outliving people you love, I suppose. You get to see changes in the world that you know they would’ve really enjoyed.
