Encouraging Words

I decided to do something for Lent this year. Usually, people give up something for Lent, but another tradition is to take up a new habit to bring you closer to God. I chose to do daily prayer and daily bible readings.

Finding a quiet place to say the Holy Spirit prayer and the Lord’s Prayer has been incredibly difficult! But I was already reading to my daughter every night, so we just changed from kids’ magazines and books to the Daily Office.

It’s been interesting, to say the least, sharing Jeremiah and John and Romans and the Psalms with my seven-year-old, but every so often, I read a gem of a verse, that makes me want to get out a highlighter. But rather than vandalize my bible, I figured I’d share them in a blog:

Ephesians 3:20
Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Psalm 34:4
I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

With so much out there to worry about, I figure we could all use a few encouraging words.
